Joe Malmuth | Managing Director of Franchise Development

As your initial contact, Joe is here to guide you through the first stage of your franchise journey. He will provide you with detailed information concerning day-to-day operations and walk you through everything Batteries Plus does to support its candidates. Joe will answer all of your questions, discuss your objectives and ultimately help you to determine if the decision to own a franchise aligns with your professional and financial goals.

Joe joined the Batteries Plus team in May of 2020. He brings years of experience, progressive thinking, motivation and enthusiasm to his role as the Managing Director of Franchise Development. At My Eyelab where Joe served as VP of Franchise Sales, he concentrated on increasing franchise inquiries, agreements and new store openings, and succeeded in growing the number of executed franchise agreements by a factor of 186% and the number of operating units by 125%.

Jon Sica | Chief Strategy Officer

Jon manages all franchising, development and strategic operations at Batteries Plus and is directly responsible for identifying and cultivating the strategies that will keep Batteries Plus a thriving national brand that’s continually poised for growth.  He works to assist both prospective franchisees and new store owners, and leads the corporate strategic planning practice and oversees a number of enterprise-level projects.

Jon joined Batteries Plus in April 2019. Prior to this, Jon served as Group Director of Business Operations at Whataburger where he was responsible for segment planning and production, acquisition integration, enhancing franchisee communication, and implementing improvements to segment operations. Prior to this, he held a number of leadership positions during his almost 10 years at Cabela’s, opening new commerce channels and spearheading initiatives to improve company profitability more than $130M. He was also instrumental in Cabela’s $5B transaction to Bass Pro Shops in 2016, helping achieve a purchase price that was about a 20% premium to market cap at the time.

Kirtis Hill | Vice President, Market and Business Development

Kirtis and his team help educate franchisees on desirable territories and sites. His overall goal is to guide you to the best location possible to help set your new store up for success.

Kirtis joined us in June of 2019. In his position as VP of Market and Business Development, He oversees the Real Estate, New Store Development and Business Analytics teams. His team assists franchise owners in opening new stores, while driving market performance through the development and implementation of innovative new marketing strategies. Prior to this, Kirtis served in executive level positions at both Whataburger and Cabela’s.

Danyelle Kukuk | Vice President, Product Management

As VP of Product Management, Danyelle manages both the Product Management and the Learning & Development teams. She brings 12 years of experience to her role in Product Management, locating and sourcing products from a combination of domestic and international vendors, while helping to set prices, terms and other parameters. She also works with the company’s Quality Assurance team, to ensure that stores consistently receive only the highest quality merchandise.

As head of the Learning & Development team, Danyelle has worked to create a training program that prepares new owners for every aspect of franchise ownership and continues long after their stores have opened. This blended approach helps to build crucial knowledge and skills through a combination of virtual, hands-on and coaching scenarios.

Cathleen Jacobson | Vice President, Marketing

Cathleen heads up the company’s in-house marketing team, consisting of eCommerce, marketing, media and creative professionals. This team of more than 20 professionals work together to promote the Batteries Plus brand and help drive customers to your store using a combination of traditional and digital marketing.

Cathleen joined the team in 2018, bringing over 30 years of executive retail marketing experience in the areas of omni-channel marketing, customer relationship management and media strategy / buying. She spent the preceding twenty-four years at Bon-Ton Department Stores where she held several senior marketing positions, including Divisional VP of Ecommerce, Divisional VP of Media Buying and VP of Marketing, Media and Administration. In her time there, she launched their Ecommerce site, managed the company’s loyalty programs and CRM efforts and oversaw the media strategy for the national retail chain, which included broadcast, print and digital marketing efforts.

Scott Williams | Chief Executive Officer

Scott is a highly accomplished executive with over 25 years in retail and e-commerce, who joined Batteries Plus as the company’s CEO in January of 2019. Scott was selected due to his perfect combination of experience, expertise and vision. Prior to Batteries Plus, Scott held a number of positions at Cabella’s, including President of Cabela’s Inc., Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. During his six-year tenure, Scott’s achievements included driving significant results by improving retail operations, revamping marketing, as well as many others. Prior to Cabela’s, he held senior management positions with Fanatics,, and OfficeMax.

Shawn Cushman | President and Chief Operating Officer

Shawn has been with Batteries Plus almost from the beginning. He began his journey as a store retail associate and eventual store manager before joining the corporate team as a Category Manager in 1996. Over the past 24 years, Shawn has built a comprehensive knowledge of the company’s operations, holding a number of important positions including: Senior Product Manager, VP of Product Development, VP of Merchandising and, most recently, President of the company’s Ascent platform.

As President of Ascent, He oversees all day-to-day operations of the business, while using his extensive knowledge of the battery, bulb and repair industries to create lasting partnerships with international manufacturers, develop new product and service offerings, and manage quality assurance, distribution and consumer engagement. He balances his broad operational knowledge with a first-hand understanding of what it’s like to work in our stores.
