Toys For Tots Partnership The Latest Example Of Batteries Plus Charitable Initiatives

The events of 2020 have placed many economic challenges on people across the country. As the year has come to a close, it’s the perfect time to look back at how Batteries Plus has given back to communities nationwide and provided a message of hope and support to those in need.

Batteries Plus franchisees have seen firsthand the impacts of the West Coast wildfires, tropical storms and COVID-19. They have truly demonstrated what it means to be there for members of the community.

The Batteries Plus corporate office has been inspired by our network of charitable franchise owners who have taken the initiative to give back to the communities that continue to support them.

Making this Holiday Season Brighter

This holiday season, Batteries Plus partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots and Duracell to power up thousands of children’s toys this holiday season. It’s the latest example of Batteries Plus giving back to communities across the country.

When it comes to distributing donated toys, Toys for Tots ensures completed toys are handed out – meaning any toy requiring battery power must have batteries installed by the recipient. Unfortunately, many donors don’t think to include them with their donations, forcing the foundation to spend money to purchase batteries to complete these toys. However, thanks to an exclusive partnership between Batteries Plus and Duracell, more than 60,000 AA batteries were donated to Toys for Tots, helping them bring joy to children across the United States.

“From helping with relief efforts during tropical storms to providing essential power to first responders, our stores are deeply invested in the communities they serve,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Batteries Plus. “Toys for Tots fits perfectly with our community-focused efforts. We hope this donation helped bring joy to children and communities that are underserved because everyone deserves to have a happy holiday.”

Batteries Plus is all about powering communities, and this partnership with Duracell and Toys for Tots helped make the season bright, one battery at a time. However, charitable efforts aren’t confined just to one month of the year. The partnership with Duracell and Toys for Tots is just the latest example of Batteries Plus working with philanthropic organizations to give back to local communities.

Committed to Philanthropic Opportunities Year-Round

In July 2019, Batteries Plus had the opportunity to donate to the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight of Wisconsin’s We Run , They Fly event. The event consisted of a 5K open to runners and walkers that showed support and raised a total of $35,000. The money fundraised through this event made it possible for 80 veterans to make their Stars and Stripes Honor Flight day and travel to the war memorial in Washington, DC. Through an annual silent auction and sample sale held by the Batteries Plus corporate team, the retail franchise brand was able to raise $10,000 for the event.

In 2020, the Batteries Plus annual silent auction looked different from years past, as the event was held virtually due to the pandemic. While COVID-19 impacted how the auction was held, Batteries Plus was able to raise over $5,000 over the course of four weeks and donated it to the Hunger Task Force , a Milwaukee-based food bank. At the same time, Batteries Plus participated in an outdoor sample sale that raised an additional $1,443 for the organization.

Along with the auction and sample sale fundraising efforts, employees of the corporate office have sponsored families through the Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County for the past two years. In 2019, Batteries Plus sponsored 13 families totaling over $2,500 of gifts, and although this year was difficult for so many, corporate employees brought their holiday spirit – sponsoring 25 families totaling over $4,200 of gifts.

As we look back on this year, Batteries Plus has been able to support communities from coast to coast throughout the challenges created by COVID-19, hurricanes and wildfires – acting as a beacon of hope and support during tough times.
